I didn’t realise how bad my piercings actually were until I got them done properly elsewhere.
It was a while ago now, but over time, I’ve had my third holes in my earlobes, daith, and a flat piercing at the top of my ear done at Doc Black.
When I say that none of these piercings EVER healed!!
I got my earlobes and daith done together and then the flat piercing a few months later maybe?
My earlobes after 6 months were still swollen, sore and red, that in the end, I took them out.
My daith never healed (weeping, bleeding etc) until I got it changed at a different shop a year and a half later?
My flat piercing came out several times ( I think it was probably trying to tell me something) but I returned each time to get it put back in - they happily agreed. When it came out a third and final time, I decided that it was enough and I would not get it put back in. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE.
By this time, my partner was so sick of me complaining about the pain, and that after so long, I still couldn’t sleep on them properly.
When I finalyyyyyyy went somewhere else that was recommend by a friend to get my daith piercing changed. My word. From that day on, I haven’t had a single issue.
Bear in mind, that at this point, I have no third earlobe piercings in and no flat - they were starting to heal over 🙏 and scar.
After pregnancy and breastfeeding, I went to the same place that my friend recommended to get my third holes and flat re-pierced.
The lady then looked at my ears and was shocked at what she seen. The flat piercing that has left such a scar, according to her, should never have been pierced in that place, and the only way that it could have gone through the very thick layer of cartilage, would be to piece it on an angle - this makes sense as to why it never healed!
The holes from my third earlobe piercings were described as uneven and far too low. Needless to say that she drew them on and they look soooooo much better now.
I also have a flat piercing on a different position on my ear that is flat, looks great and is healing fab! The aftercare I was given was to return after two - 4 weeks to get a smaller bar in once the swelling etc subsides (I was never given this aftercare at Doc Black).
Moral of the story, please don’t go here for piercings. Save yourself the trouble and PAIN I had and go somewhere that you know are good, take their time, and look after you properly.
I must admit, the piercers at Doc Black that I encountered were always friendly. I don’t know whether it’s because they’re so rushed, or the jewellery they use is 💩.
